I like to express a world unseen to the eye but I believe is very important. Within my art are feelings drawn from a utopian world full with imagination, spirit, love, balance with nature and reaching for peace of mind. Recently I have been expressing this world using a variety of different materials and approaches. Tying together a more ancient theme of Zen, with a more playful theme Kawaii.
My Zen style would include the use of stone, driftwood, gold leaf and canvas to convey balance within nature. Kawaii (Cute in Japanese) brings a joy, playfulness, silly, relaxing, calming and causes you to laugh. Materials are common and found in everyday use. They include paper, yarn, cotton and organic materials such as bark from a tree, coffee stains and natural pigments.
